How far in advance do you recommend booking a corporate event?

We recommend booking your corporate event in advance to secure your spot. For most times of the year, we suggest reserving your date at least 30 days ahead. However, during the winter months when our schedule is less busy, a notice of one week in advance would be sufficient to secure your desired date.

Does BYC have audiovisual facilities available for presentations and speeches?

BYC offers comprehensive audiovisual facilities to enhance your presentations and speeches. We provide high-quality projectors for displaying visuals and presentations. Our range of microphones, including wireless options, ensures clear and amplified sound during speeches and presentations. Additionally, we have podiums available for speakers to deliver their presentations from a professional and elevated platform. We are committed to providing the necessary equipment and support to make your corporate event a resounding success. If you have any specific AV equipment requirements, please inform us in advance, and we will make the necessary arrangements to meet your needs.

Can BYC customize the catering to accommodate specific dietary restrictions or preferences?

Absolutely! We offer a fully customizable catering experience from A to Z. Whether you have specific preferences for wines or craft beers, or you require special dietary accommodations such as gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, or vegan options, we can cater to your needs. We can even source fresh lobster from New Brunswick if that's what you desire. We don't limit you to predefined options; if you can dream it, we will make it happen.

Yes, we provide additional services and amenities for corporate events. These include free Wi-Fi throughout the venue, event planning assistance, and a guide to facilitate any group activities you would like to participate in, such as tennis, pickleball, or soccer baseball.

Is parking available for guests attending corporate events?

Yes, parking is available for all guests attending corporate events at BYC, and it is free of charge.

For over 130 years, Britannia Yacht Club has provided a quick and easy escape from urban Ottawa into lakeside cottage country that unbelievably is just fifteen minutes from downtown.

Members of all ages can enjoy sailing, tennis, swimming, childrens’ programs and other outdoor activities, as well as great opportunities and events for socializing.

Britannia Yacht Club has a long history of producing outstanding sailors. Our nationally acclaimed junior sailing program (Learn to Sail) is certified by the Canadian Yachting Association and is structured to nurture skills, self discipline and personal achievement in a fun environment.

Britannia Yacht Club has affiliations with clubs across Canada and the United States so members can enjoy other facilities when they travel. A number of different membership categories and mooring rates with flexible payment plans are available. Please refer to the Membership Fees and Mooring Fees.

2024/2025 BYC Mooring Fee Schedule

Moorings in the harbour are charged based on the width of the mooring. A mooring of a given size (e.g. 12 feet) will accommodate a boat whose beam is two feet less than the mooring size (e.g. 10 feet). Dry sail moorings (for dinghies and other boats stored out of the water) are charged a rate based on either the type of boat (e.g. Laser or Sailboard), or by a weight limit.

Mooring fees include winter storage, spring launch and fall haulout. BYC has holding tank pump out facilities, free to members, as well as gas, diesel, and fresh water at the service dock.

A. Membership Agreement

Waiver of Liability

The following is an extract of the “Hold Harmless” agreement that is contained in the Britannia Yacht Club By-Law:

Notwithstanding any offer or provision of services by the Club whether for a fee or gratuitously, all members on application and acceptance of membership in the Club or on annual renewal of membership, acknowledge that the Club is not liable to members for any loss or damage suffered by such members to their property arising whether through acts of negligence of officers, other members or employees in the launching, hauling, storing or moving of their boats or equipment, in the conduct of racing or other activities of the Club, or in the occupation and control of the Club’s property by virtue of any relationship of bailor or bailee, and all members acknowledge and accept that any such liability shall be borne by them.

A. Membership Agreement

If allocated a mooring:

I will obey all Britannia Yacht Club Harbour and Safety Rules and Regulations.

I certify that I am either:

» The sole owner of the above boat, or
» The “designated” owner of the boat (Note: Moorings will only be assigned to a sole owner, or a “designated” owner. If a boat is owned in partnership, the partners are to designate one of their number as a “designated” owner for the mooring application and other Britannia Yacht Club ownership responsibilities.)

I will advise the manager of Britannia Yacht Club, in writing, within fourteen days of any change in ownership noted above.

I accept the “Hold Harmless” Agreement, a copy of which is printed above.
