Fall Haulout 2020

Dear Boat Owners,
The sailing season has gone by in a big hurry and here we are in September with the kids gone back to school. Now it’s time to haul the boats out and put them to bed for the winter.
Boats hauled out on the Blue Crane are being asked to book a haul out time as soon as possible – please contact the office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 613-828-5167 to make this appointment. To make scheduling a little more flexible this year we are offering haul out times on the weekend of September 12th and 13th and September 19th and 20th, however spots are limited on those days to a maximum of 40 boats. This will allow you to pick a time that works best with your schedule. If you need to have staff remove your mast, please inform the office at the time of your booking as extra time has to be put into the schedule – please note that there is an additional service charge of $150 for this service. The earlier you haul out the more likely you’ll have time to winterize and cover your boat in decent weather – it can be an unpleasant task in frosty or snowy weather.
Due to the ongoing guidelines for COVID-19 safety, we ask all boat owners to bring their boats to the Blue Crane at the required time. BYC Harbour Staff will then handle the haul out and crane operation to ensure physical distancing protocols are maintained. A reminder that masks are to be worn when physical distancing cannot be facilitated as per the Ottawa Public Health Temporary Mandatory Bylaw.
The big boat haulout has been scheduled for Wednesday October 7, 2020. If you are not able to attend on that day, please arrange to have a representative attend in your place and please inform the office who you have authorized to act for you. Boats will not be hauled in the absence of the owner or authorized representative.  Powerboats must have their own blocking materials and jack stands ready on the day – the Club will not supply these materials and will not haul the boats if this equipment in not at hand.
Kindly review the BYC Code of Conduct to refresh yourself on all current restrictions and protocols.
