Today, the Premier of Ontario made an announcement that certain businesses and workplaces will be allowed to reopen on May 4, as long as they comply with strict public health measures. These businesses include Marinas which is an encouraging sign however, it doesn’t mean the Clubhouse or Boat Yard will be open on Monday. The announcement indicates that Marinas may ‘begin preparations for the recreational boating season ...but not open to the public’.
Here’s a link to the announcement https://news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/05/certain-businesses-allowed-to-reopen-under-strict-safety-guidelines.html
At this point, Sail Ontario has stated that they ‘are meeting with industry leaders to assess the interpretation of this announcement on the sailing community’. The Commodore and the General Manager are in regular contact with Sail Ontario to ensure that we understand the restrictions and can formulate a plan for complying with them. Until these things are clear and public access is allowed, the Clubhouse and Boat Yard remains closed. We’ll keep you posted as we get more information and our plans develop.
In the meanwhile, have a good weekend and stay safe.
