Dear BYC Members,
First and foremost, I would like to wish you and your families good heath in this challenging time. I am not sure what you all have been up to in this period of self-isolation, but I can tell you, there is a lot of baking going on in my home!
We were hoping that we might have been able to open up the Club House in early April, but as you are aware, Last Monday Premiere Ford ordered that all non-essential services be closed for an additional 14 days.  Unfortunately, this means that the BYC will remained closed until we are directed by the province to do otherwise.
We will continue to keep the yard open, as per our Harbour Master’s message that was sent out on Saturday March 20, 2020. We do ask that if you are in the yard that you practice the social distancing recommendations. Just a reminder that the washrooms remain closed at this time.
The Board of Directors have been meeting remotely and will continue to meet regularly in order to constantly monitor this unprecedented situation. The Finance Committee is also meeting and is closely evaluating how keeping the club closed is affecting our financial situation. Currently we are fine but understand that we may have to make some tough decisions in the future. The Flood Committee meets regularly and is closely monitoring water levels with a view to deciding when the gate might be going in.
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the Women in Wind Conference to April 2021. I would like to thank the organizers for all of their hard work in bringing this conference together and I am looking forward to it’s launch next year. The RYA Yacht Master Coastal / Offshore Theory Course has also been postponed. Thanks to the organizers of this event as well.
In closing, the General Manager and myself are in daily contact and we keep ourselves up to date as this fluid situation evolves. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to either myself or Paul Moore.
Wishing you all good health,
Lisa Shishis, RN
